How Can Trust in Political Institutions be Restored?

This essay was a term paper for one of my classes. I give an analysis on the state of distrust currently in America and offer insights into how trust might be restored. While certainly not exhaustive, my aim was to provide a foundation for future conversations on the subject matter. The main idea is that, in our attempts to answer my initial question, we must act in good-faith. What does that look like? This should be explored further in future literature.
